OVERVIEW

We are seeking a part-time permanent Kitchen and Admin Assistant to support our busy New Product Development department based in Halstead. The role is being offered as 20 hours per week over 4 days, but we are flexible for the right candidate. Suggested hours of work are 9.00am -2.30pm. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our daily operations, ensuring that administrative tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This position is ideal for someone with a background in food production or someone who has a passion for food and ingredients. You will be detail-orientated, a clear communicator and someone who would enjoy the duality of a both a practical and administrative role.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • A valid UK driving licence and use of own car for occasional off-site visits.
  • Computer literate across Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of food hygiene.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in basic maths for inventory weighing, tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and task management.
  • Please note the salary shown is pro rata - Hourly equivalent rate -£12.82 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Make up and send out samples as requested by the NPD team or by other departments as required.
  • Order and pick stock replenishments from the warehouse as required according to the agreed process.
  • Request stock from production as required for samples and benchmarking.
  • Manage stock control/rotation of all ingredients, finished goods, competitor products and development samples.
  • Ensure that the kitchen & archive room are always kept tidy and clean.
  • Manage the storage of any new ingredient or packaging samples & document this information.
  • Manage the day-to-day parcels pick up and related costs
  • Shopping for benchmarking samples and collect these from store as required.
  • Continuously build knowledge of the ingredients we supply and their key quality parameters.
  • Develop a basic understanding of packaging including films/bags/cases/pots & labels.
  • To maintain the standards for product safety, legality, traceability, quality, hygiene, and housekeeping requirements.
  • This role involves liaising with all departments so clear and professional communication skills are a must.
  • Supporting exciting new projects.
