NPDI MANAGER

FAAC Electronics Limited is an electronic manufacturing site, located in the Citywest Business Campus (Dublin 24) Ireland. We are the main electronic supplier for all the Business Units of the Italian group FAAC Technologies, world leader in access automation, parking and access control, employing more than 3.700 employees worldwide across 5 continents and our 55 companies. Our 3 Business Units are:

  • ACCESS AUTOMATION (FAAC Simply Automatic) - automation for gates and barriers, entrances and automatic doors, motors for rolling shutters and screens, car parks.
  • ACCESS CONTROL (Magnetic) - systems with innovative solutions for access control, for both barriers and pedestrian passages.
  • PARKING TECHNOLOGY (Hub) - with intelligent and scalable solutions to control paid car parks.

We are seeking an NPDI Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the process of bringing new products from the design phase through to full-scale production, ensuring that all aspects of product development, testing, and manufacturing are properly managed. The NPDI Manager ensures, in collaboration with other departments (Engineering, Quality and Production) that new products are introduced smoothly and efficiently, aligning with quality standards, cost targets, and production timelines. The NPDI Manager will report to the Plant Manager and will work closely with the FEL Departments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, resources, and teams
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and coordination abilities
  • Customer service oriented approach
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Good communication skills both in written and oral in English (Italian is a bonus)
  • Previous people management experience
  • Deep knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes
  • Problem-solving skills and experience with process optimization
  • Familiarity with cycle time analysis
  • Working knowledge of SAP is highly preferred
  • Computer skills in MS office and CAD software
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the role
Responsibilities
  • The NPDI Manager plays a critical role as the primary interface with the customer, actively participating in kick-off meetings, Obeya sessions, and project reviews to ensure alignment and the successful execution of product development initiatives
  • Coordinates cross-functional collaboration between departments such as Design, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Production to ensure a smooth transition from product concept to production
  • Works closely with Process Engineers, the Quality team, and the Production team to ensure the product can be manufactured efficiently at scale. This may involve optimizing manufacturing processes, optimizing designs for manufacturability, and ensuring production facilities are ready
  • Identifies potential risks in new product introductions, including design, cost, supply chain, and production risks, and develops mitigation strategies to ensure smooth product launches
  • Oversees the transition from prototype to mass production by conducting trial production runs, addressing production issues, and ensuring full-scale production processes are stable and efficient
  • Coordinates the NPDI team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of trial activities, overseeing regular status updates, aligning the team’s efforts with customer requirements, and ensuring all trial milestones are achieved in line with project timelines
  • Capable of creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Rate Routings when required, particularly in team support or emergency situations, ensuring accuracy and completeness to support efficient and cost-effective production planning.
  • Oversees the definition and monitoring of cycle times during new product development phases
  • Supervises the management of Engineering Change (EC) activities
  • Provides support to NPDI resources in collaboration with Purchasing and Planning during phase-in and phase-out processes, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with project timelines and objectives
  • Promotes team training and supports the team in electronic production processes during trial runs and pre-series production
