AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

AMSANT is a member of the Northern Territory Aboriginal Health Forum (NT AHF) which is the principle planning forum for Aboriginal health in the Northern Territory. Partners include AMSANT and key government agencies at Territory and Commonwealth levels. The independent secretariat office, based at AMSANT, engages with all partner organisations to ensure efficient and effective running of NTAHF in collaboration with the NT AHF Chairperson.
The NT AHF Project Coordinator position will be responsible for the provision of high-quality policy advice and support to AMSANT and the NT AHF, as well as the secretariat function of the NT AHF and selected subcommittee working groups. The role will ensure the business of NT AHF operates effectively and efficiently, ensuring all meetings and meeting outcomes, strategic coordination and policy development, are achieved in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high-quality policy advice, strategic input and support to AMSANT and to the NT AHF, reporting to the Policy, Research and Advocacy Manager.
  • Provide high-level coordination of the NT AHF secretariat. Detailed duties include but are not limited to:


    • Organise NT AHF and subcommittee meetings including preparation and circulation of meeting notices, agendas, papers, minutes and actions.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for NT AHF Partners, including liaising with other NT AHF member secretariats.
    • Liaise with the NT AHF Chair and AMSANT member representatives as directed by the Policy, Research & Advocacy Manager.
    • Undertake and coordinate actions arising from NT AHF and subcommittee meetings.
    • Produce high quality minutes of NTAHF meetings, in a timely manner.
    • Maintain NTAHF registers and records efficiently and accurately.
    • Produce high-level documents as required by the NT AHF, including annual reports and Communiques.
    • Proactively develop and support the on-going continuous quality improvement of policies, procedures, and operational systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the NTAHF secretariat function.
    • Provide secretariat support and/or oversight for other areas of AMSANT when required.
    • Undertake research, provide strategic advice and prepare briefing papers and reports as requested for consideration by AMSANT and the NTAHF.
    • Work collaboratively with relevant staff across AMSANT and the ACCHS sector and participate in policy-related groups within AMSANT and with partner organisations, as directed by the Policy, Research and Advocacy Manager.
    • Engage with relevant allied government and non-government agencies and represent AMSANT in external meetings as required.
    • Undertake other relevant duties as required.
