Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.     Mission Statement: To serve the community by providing quality, comprehensive cancer care which respects the values and needs of each individual.       Position Summary: Administers radiopharmaceuticals, or radiation, to patients to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under the direction of a physician. Supervises PET Tech Assistants. Performs job duties and responsibilities in compliance with company policies and procedures. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Calculates, measures and records radioactive doses (radiopharmaceuticals) received, used and disposed of In-House in accordance with State and Federal regulations. * Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals agents in patients’ bodies using a PET/CT scanner to produce digital/computer-generated images. * Follows exam protocols designed for administration of exams following ALARA principles. * Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides assistance during test procedures. * Gathers information on patient illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy.   * Produce and formats digital images for interpretation by a physician.   * Receives radioactive materials delivered from pharmacy.   * Disposes of radioactive materials and stores radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures and ALARA principles. * Prepares stock radiopharmaceuticals while adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients. * Maintains and calibrates radioisotope and laboratory equipment. * Measures radioactivity of patient or radiopharmaceuticals using PET Scanners, Geiger-Muller survey meters, well counters, scintillation probes, and other laboratory equipment. * Wears appropriate radioactive monitoring devices in accordance with State and Federal regulations. * Maintains compliance for record keeping for maintaining RAM license. * Maintains compliance for record keeping and testing for maintaining ACR accreditation. * Trains and supervises PET department assistants to support ALARA principles. * Assists with PET Technologist assistant’s tasks when appropriate. * Accurately processes exam results generated by a certified radiologist.   * Must be able to type and work on a computer. * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. * Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, administrator, or physicians.   Minimum Qualifications: * Dual CT Certified preferred, but not required. * Ability to use office equipment and computer. * Knowledge of Medical Office operations.   * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Internet   Education and/or Experience: * Bachelor’s degree preferred.            Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  * ARRT or CNMT certification. * Arizona State License.
Responsibilities
