Description

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, motivated nuclear medicine technologist to be part of the multidisciplinary team working in a high-end Nuclear Medicine and PET Department at the Royal North Shore Hospital. The department has recently installed a state-of-the-art Total Body PET system and has an active continuing professional development, research and ongoing training program which includes involvement in a theranostics service offered in a Centre of Excellence for the treatment of Neuroendocrine tumours. The department provides the full range of nuclear medicine services, an extensive and growing radionuclide therapy service and PET using a broad range of radiotracers.

Responsibilities

The Medical Radiation Scientist (Nuclear Medicine) Level 2 must prove competent and reliable in all duties of a qualified technologist. He/she is expected to deliver high quality work as required in an academic institution and must deal with patients in a professional manner. Observance of all rules and regulations of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is obligatory.

The Medical Radiation Scientist (Nuclear Medicine) Level 2 must:

  • demonstrate independent and significant professional knowledge and judgement when performing clinical tasks
  • take an active part in multidisciplinary teams and gain experience in the more complex Nuclear Medicine procedures including quality improvement/assurance programmes
  • provide a high level of patient care and continue to develop their knowledge regarding work place safety issues (e.g. manual handling, WH&S)
  • demonstrate significant ongoing commitment to continuing education and participate in undergraduate student education and departmental in-service lectures.
