REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a recognized diploma in Ontario or a degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Current registration is in good standing with the relevant professional licensing body.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, preferably in a hospital or medical imaging center.
  • Proficiency in performing a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, including bone scans, cardiac stress tests, and PET/CT imaging.
  • Strong understanding of radiopharmaceuticals, radiation safety protocols, and image acquisition techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, and understandably explain complex procedures.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging software and computer systems used in nuclear medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures using advanced imaging equipment, ensuring accurate and high-quality images for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients as per prescribed protocols, ensuring proper dosage and patient safety.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and PET scanners, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to review patient medical histories, determine appropriate imaging techniques, and interpret scan results.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort throughout the imaging process.
  • Use computer software to process and manipulate images, ensuring accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and privacy regulations by maintaining detailed records of procedures, patient information, and radiation doses administered.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety guidelines, including monitoring radiation levels and implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and techniques, participating in continuing education and professional development activities.
