Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Numerical Architectural Engineer passionate about driving the cutting-edge numerical modelling & algorithm design for AMD’s next generation graphics IP design. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in contributing to cutting-edge numerical modelling strategy enabling validation & verification to achieve industry leading numerical quality and productivity under tight schedule. In this role the candidate will work with the architecture team, modelling team, design team and central formal verification team contributing to our numerical modelling roadmap and help drive towards guaranteeing robust numerical model adoption throughout all aspects of project execution. The candidate will be part of a team that is the point of contact for all GFXIP numerical modelling & validation practice.
You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the latest and rapidly evolving graphics IP design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop numerical modelling techniques for all current and future number systems, precisions and accuracies for all operations – enabling micro/architecture to express numerical intent at speed
  • Produce C++ that enables all consumers of numerical models, multiple simulator teams, formal verification, verification & validation teams
  • Perform formal verification of the models against RTL to order to refine the models in light of FV requirements without damaging the validability of the models.
  • Explore broader numerical formal verification techniques whether automatic numerical error analysis, model checking or theorem proving
  • Teach number systems to accelerate design & debug of architecture, design & verification of numerical designs, refine this material through university collaboration
  • Explore automated design space exploration for key graphics algorithms whether algorithm rewriting, number system design or selection, hardware component design or selection, precision or accuracy. Promote latest rewriting technology throughout the division.
  • Help drive improvements in natural language and machine-readable numerical specifications
