Job Summary Serves as a multi-functional member of the patient care team under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) Support the RN staff through regularly organizing and facilitating basic patient care activities, unit secretary functions, performing 12 lead EKG’s, and functioning as a Monitor Tech This position can also perform basic nursing tasks as described below. Accurately and promptly communicate with the nursing staff, patient, family, and patient care team as required Essential Functions: Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation. Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly. Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals Knowledge of basic medical terminology required Basic computer knowledge is preferred Ability to move or lift patients and equipment Ability to provide/assist with personal care, feeding and other activities as directed by an RN Minimum Education High School Graduate or Equivalent. Current Enrollment and good standing in an accredited school of nursing, with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Current enrollment and good standing in an accredited school of nursing, with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing
