The Nurse Educator, in consultation with the Nursing Manager is responsible for overall planning and implementation of an educational program to address the needs of the staff, patients and their family. The Nurse educator provides development and leadership in the areas of clinical practice, education, research and quality improvement. The Nurse Educator is an experienced nurse who is an expert in the assigned clinical area. The Nurse Educator is a role model for staff in client/family care. The Nurse Educator will use a consultative approach and evidence based research findings to provide support to health care professionals as appropriate. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * 3 years experience in clinical area within the past 5 years * Experience in program/resource development * Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities * Experience using EMR and Inter RAI assessment tools will be considered an asset. Education * Graduate from an approved School of Nursing Competencies * Demonstrates leadership skills Knowledge & Abilities * Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal/consultative relationships  * Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change * Articulates theory and knowledge related to client centered care * Ability to apply research to clinical practice * Integrate clinical experience to group activities to enhance clinical practice * Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities * Ability to be self-directed  * Establish and maintain good communication patterns * Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development * Integrate clinical knowledge to group activities to enhance clinical practice * Demonstrates ability in teaching, facilitation and group activities * Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards and application of such * Demonstrates ability to plan & carry out responsibilities w/ minimal supervision * Ability to develop educational resources and presentations * Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills Other Education & Training: * Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Other Information * Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) * Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for work. * Willing to travel to rural areas as assigned.
