The CNE will provide education and training rooted in the principles of patient centered care in clinical settings and professional development of nursing staff specific to a defined group of clients. The incumbent will support nursing staff to ensure they have necessary skills, knowledge and competence to deliver high quality patient care. In collaboration with the CNE Supervisor and other stakeholder such as leadership in continuing care homes, hospital and the SHA the CNE is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning, implementing, and evaluating education activities/programs. The Clinical Nurse Educator will use a consultative approach and research findings to provide support to Care Staff and other Support Staff in long term care facilities, community hospitals, integrated care facilities, and the Alternate Level of Care Unit in the RQHR. Positions will have specific responsibilities related to specialized client needs and clinical knowledge needs in the SHA. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience 3 years experience in clinical area within the past 5 years 1 year previous experience in adult education Requires experience in planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation. Requires experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment. Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities Education Graduate from an approved School of Nursing Licenses Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) Other Education and Training Requires or in progress towards a recognized Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change Articulates theory and knowledge related to the priniciples of adult education Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development Ability to work with minimal supervision Makes judgements on the basis of critical thinking and problem solving criteria Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards and application of such Ability to establish, positive interpersonal/consultative relationships Can dev./implement/evaluate educational prog./resources incl. needs assessment Ability to apply research to clinical practice Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
