Primary responsibilities include advising on nursing related topics, including the requirements of Acute care policies and programs, and providing on-site consultation and support to the Surgical Unit nursing teams. The resource nurse will collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to improve patient centered care and promote inter-professional practice. Strategies include identification of evidence based best practices and tools for risk assessment and management. Further, the resource nurse advocates for advances in the delivery of patient care services. The resource nurse works collaboratively with Patient Care Management and Teams, Quality Services, Clinical Nursing Education and other regional partners to ensure that best, leading and evidence-based practices are used to provide high quality, safe care. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience 3 years experience specifically in the acute clinical area required Preference to those with Surgical Unit experience Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Knowledge and Abilities Organize/prioritize work on multiple projects with competing deadlines Ability to maintain client/patient/resident confidentiality Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other care providers Ability to apply principles and techniques to achieve optimum resident care Knowledge in change management Ability to competently use computers and software applications Ability to apply system-level thinking in evaluating nursing practice/process. Ability to identify opportunity for improvement and act as a change agent Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and mentorship Ability to supervise and teach licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel Knowledge in employee development and performance management process Knowledge in quality improvement theory and methodologies Ability to integrate knowledge and experience to enhance clinical practice.
