This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make primary decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program, CRNS Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, and other relevant legislation. The Public Health Nurse works within guidelines established by SHA policy to plan organize, implement and evaluate nursing programs in an assigned area. The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy.
