Position #: 100334 Expected Start Date: March 30, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: La Ronge Health Centre City/Town: La Ronge Department: Public Health Specialist Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: August 28, 2026 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Hours of Work:  224 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: Yes Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse C $45.830 to $56.140 Travel Required: Yes Human Resources Exemption: No Job Description: The incumbent is responsible for communicable disease control policy and program development and implementation and for communicable disease health status surveillance and reporting within the former Keewatin Yatthé Health Region, the former Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region, and the Athabasca region.  The focus of practice includes the areas of vaccine preventable diseases, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, food and water-borne diseases, animal bites, other communicable diseases regulated under The Public Health Act. The incumbent works closely with the Medical Health Officers, health region managers and staff, and in liaison with Saskatchewan Health, other health regions and First Nations agencies. Education * Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing * Master's degree in nursing, community health and epidemiology, or public health or a suitable combination of education and experience is preferred Experience * Progressive experience in public health/primary care nursing with demonstrated clinical competence * Experience in communicable disease control programs Knowledge and Abilities * In depth knowledge of community health problems and resources; communicable diseases, prevention and control measures; and service delivery systems in the North.  * Proven skills in leadership, problem solving, effective oral and written communication, report writing * Problem-solving and decision-making skills needed to identify challenges in meeting standards and goals for communicable disease control programs; initiate steps to change programs or take action needed to meet the program objectives * Ability to take initiative, work independently, establish and maintain effective working relationships and the confidence of others as an advisor on Communicable Disease Control programs * Skills in computerized data collection and analysis * Teaching skills, including preparing educational materials and presenting information to individuals, community groups, health care providers and managers * Analytical skills required to evaluate programs and integrate national and provincial guidelines, scientific literature, and knowledge about northern community health problems and resources into policy and programs for northern health regions * Ability to work in stressful situations with frequent deadlines and high demand for accuracy; ability to prioritize work schedule Other Information * For more information on the town of La Ronge please visit https://www.laronge.ca/ [https://www.laronge.ca/] * Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) * La Ronge is located approximately 241 km north of Prince Albert The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
