Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) which includes 1) Providing comprehensive professional nursing care to ambulatory patients, 2) Administering medications through various methods, and 3) Providing patient and staff education.

Education: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.

• Establish priorities for patient care and evaluates patients’ progress toward high-level wellness.
• Act as relief nurse, triages and screens walk-in patients to assess the severity of the patient’s condition and the need for provider intervention.
• Screen patient charts to assess the medical history and determine health care needs.
• Execute or ensure the completion of orders from health care providers.
• Assist health care providers with examinations and procedures.
• Responsible for educating patients for high risk, painful or stressful procedures with education and support.
• Monitor or ensure the monitoring of patients pre, during and post-procedure per established protocols.
• Prepare and administer oral, subcutaneous, intra-muscular and intravenous medications.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Assist clinic with patient and staff education.
