IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENT ABOVE, TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW:

Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional in patient nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) which includes developing or modifying nursing care plans, administering therapeutic measures (such as medications, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, nasogastric tubes, oncology medication, central lines, ventilators, fetal monitors, arterial lines, etc.) and educating patients or staff.
OR
Education: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education from a professional nursing program.
Exemption: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet one of the requirements below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Responsibilities
  • Provide independent and comprehensive clinical nursing services for all patients from neonates/pediatric through geriatric, in all areas required of installation’s medical center.
  • Assess patient conditions and evaluate nursing care required and provided.
  • Identify problems, formulate resolutions, and implement appropriate intervention and plans of care.
  • Utilize emergency and resuscitative measures (pulmonary and ventilation functions), dispense pharmaceuticals (e.g., special, potent, and potentially lethal drugs), and operate highly complex technical equipment.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop strategies to improve patient care services.
  • Develop, teach, and provide patients and family in areas requiring support to facilitate special and innovative approaches.
  • Provide delegation, oversight, and direction of work to personnel of lower-level position, status, or licensure to ensure nursing and medical services are compliant.
