Job Opportunity Job ID: 51219 NURSE CLINICIAN-PER DIEM | UM HEALTH-SPARROW DIABETES & ENDO Description: Positions Location: East Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: The Registered Nurse Clinician assesses, plans, implements and evaluates education resources and programs within area of expertise for patients of all ages, caregivers, associates and the community to achieve safe care and optimal health. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Utilizes clinical expertise to assess, conduct, coordinate, and evaluate education to patients, families the community and associates. Teaches, patients and caregivers about specific disease processes, alterations in life-style and self-concept to achieve/maintain their optimal health. Plans, develops, evaluates, and revises quality educational programs in areas of expertise. Promotes continuity of patient care through information shares and communication with other departments and health professionals to optimize coordination of care. Acts as a resource to other educators, associates, and community. Assists and supports management with systems, equipment, and procedural changes within Nursing Services. Assists with revision of policies and procedures as requested. Participates on hospital/community committee/task forces related to areas of practice.. Job Requirements General Requirements Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Michigan. Certification in specialty area preferred. Work Experience Minimum of two years staff nurse experience required, preferably within specialty area of practice. Education Graduate from a state-approved school of nursing. Baccalaureate degree in nursing; Masters Degree in nursing preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills Demonstrate teaching and program development ability. Knowledge of current trends and developments in professional nursing. Demonstrate flexibility, resourcefulness, creativity, leadership, and self-direction. Demonstrates good judgment, ability to assess learning needs of others, positive interpersonal relationships, and effective verbal and written communication.
