Assist the lead Physiotherapist with planning of exercise programmes in the CSS Centre. Triage CSS exercise referrals, schedule appointments and carry out follow-up phone calls. Welcome and oversee safe arrival and departure of CSS members attending for classes. Utilise assessment information from initial nurse consultation and support plans. Conduct individual pre and post assessments (metrics advised by Physiotherapy lead). Identify and communicate health or other issues that may be a barrier to participating in high intensity exercise. Support delivery of Group Exercise Sessions, with due regard to the safety, health and wellbeing of stroke survivors. Provide assistance with use and cleaning of gym equipment. Support participants with transfer and toileting as required. Assist with room set-up, refreshments and cleaning of equipment. Carry out vital signs monitoring where indicated. Update information in stroke survivor individual exercise / support plan. Assess falls risk and aim to ensure that programme participants have safely left the CSS Centre post sessions. Administer first aid and be familiar with emergency response procedures and use of defibrillator. Complete incident report in the event of a fall or near-miss incident. Address information needs of stroke survivors and families and signpost services. Advise on stroke secondary prevention, addressing exercise, diet and healthy behaviours. Collaborate with CSS staff and support exercise assistant and CSS volunteers. Maintain a safe working environment with due regard to the safety of self and others. Support development of information resources. Assist with data entry, service evaluation, outcome and impact measurement.
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience Have at least 3 years post registration experience and A genuine interest in Stroke Recovery and have experience in the specialist area of stroke care and / or rehabilitation. and Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice and Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development. Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Character The successful candidate should be of good character and will be required to supply names of referees and have garda clearance. It is expected that the successful candidate will be guided by their code of professional conduct and will work within their scope of practice.
