UPMC HOME HEALTH IS HIRING A NURSE EDUCATOR TO SUPPORT THE HOME HEALTH EDUCATION TEAM IN WEST MIFFLIN, UNIONTOWN, HERMITAGE, SEVEN FIELDS, VENANGO, AND ERIE. THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION, WORKING 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. THIS POSITION IS BASED IN SEVEN FIELDS, PA, BUT REQUIRES TRAVEL LESS THAN 25% TO THE VARIOUS OFFICES.

The Education Department is a small group of educators that has a large footprint between Home Healthcare and Hospice. Educators have the opportunity to obtain certifications in areas like OASIS, wound care, and ostomy care. The Education Department works collaboratively with systemwide resources to provide the best orientation and experiences for our staff.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and continuing education programs based on learning needs, clinical priorities, and organizational resources.
• Facilitate staff initiatives to improve patient care.

• Promotes patient education.
• Demonstrate awareness of the impact of behavior on the efficient functioning of the department and organization.
• Take a leading role in major hospital-wide projects.

• Facilitates student experiences as appropriate.
• Assist with verifying knowledge and skills/attitude-based competencies of direct care staff; assist with ensuring that all direct care providers and direct care staff have received training to address gaps in knowledge and/or skills/attitude-based competencies; assist with planning, implementing, and verifying that all direct care providers/staff have all required skills.
• BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
• Relevant teaching experienceLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
