JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator to join our team. The Nurse Educator/RN/IPAC Lead/Quality and Risk Coordinator’s primary function is to focus on the education and professional development of Registered Nurses (RN’s), and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) as well as lead the education and continuous improvement of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) programs in the Hospital..

Responsibilities
  • The RN on duty oversees all patient care in the Long-Term Care (LTC) Unit (12 beds), Acute Care (8 beds), and Emergency Department. Knowledge and skills required range from pediatrics to geriatrics considering the nature of this Northern Rural facility. As a charge nurse, the responsibility of managing the flow of information required for safe practice in the LTC Unit following FLTCA, 2021 along with guidance and instructions to staff members is required. Added Nursing skills certification is required and must follow the College of Nurses standards of practice.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate education packages for Surge Learning (Hospital wide), Point Click Care (PCC), and Meditech Expanse.
  • Bring in evidence-based studies to update policies and procedures in-house to maintain best-practice care as per RNAO.
  • Practice and promote an environment of continuous quality improvement and leads the Quality Improvement Plan Programs.
  • Assist in the identification of specific organizational needs and priorities related to accreditation.
  • Assist in writing directives to ensure accreditation requirements.
  • The IPAC Lead is responsible for implementing and coordinating the legislative Infection Control Program for Long Term Care (LTC), including the development of policies and procedures, surveillance, outbreak management, oversight of IPAC practice, education, and quality improvement.
