Pay Range: $20.60 - $20.60 Position Overview Position is year-round. Commitment is minimum of 2 shifts per 6-week schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides for safety aspects of patient care (assists with patient restraints, uses correct transfer techniques, follows falls precautions, responds appropriately to emergency situations). Provides personal care, including bathing, mouth care, evening care, and incontinence care, to patients under the direction of the RN. Empties and cleans ostomy and other device bags efficiently. Records accurate intake and output per unit standards. Applies appropriately basic dressings, slings, splints, antiembolism and sequential pressure stockings under the direction of the RN. Collects specimens such as stool, urine and sputum on a timely basis. Provides for nutrition of patients. Feeds, monitors tube feedings, delivers nourishment, counts calories timely an accurately. Makes pertinent observations about patients. Documents accurate and timely observations in patient records and reports findings to RN. Performs Phlebotomy accurately and stocks Phlebotomy and IV trays for unit. Performs accurate glucometer testing. Performs EKG's as determined by unit and following competency attainment. Performs accurate vital signs and pulse oximetry. Assists with CPR under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician. Performs as a patient care companion when needed. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process. Acts as a runner and transporter. Updates assigned bed status of patients. Answers call lights and telephones. Keeps patient environment clean, performs hourly rounding, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions. Removes urinary catheters and saline locks. Stocks supplies as required by designated unit. Maintains a well cleaned, organized environment. Performs other duties as assigned: willingness to adapt to changing department needs. Maintains patient and medication refrigerator logs. Checks and signs name to Unit Code certification and certifications for operational performance each shift. Notifies clinical equipment and charge nurse of any malfunctioning defibrillator in a timely manner. Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and unit personnel and peers to an accurate, courteous, and professional manner. Assists with post mortem care. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS High school diploma. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (with verification of enrollment and status). Completion of one clinical rotation in nursing school. AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period. Proficient in English, verbal and written communication. ROLE HIGHLIGHTS Year-round position. Flexible orientation and per diem scheduling (minimum 2 shifts per 6 weeks). Work collaboratively with RNs and interdisciplinary team. Perform vital signs measurement: Temperature; Pulse; Respiration; Blood Pressure; Pulse Oximetry Readings. Record in patient charts.
