How you’ll contribute A Nurse Extern works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. * Works collaboratively with the patient care team. * Performs direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a registered nurse. * Documents patient care given. * Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to supervising RN. * Maintains positive professional relationship with patient/ families, coworkers, and health care team. * Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. * Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. * Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. * Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. * Supports performance improvement philosophy. Nonessential Functions Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students. Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Responsibilities

The Nurse Extern provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including assisting with activities of daily living and monitoring patient conditions. They also document care, communicate with the healthcare team, and provide education to patients and their families.
