Locust Ave, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 Job Summary The Nurse Extern works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct patient care while gaining hands-on clinical experience in an acute care setting. Job Requirements Education: Must be a third-year nursing student or higher enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing. Certifications: Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) required. Required Skills: Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Professional communication and teamwork skills Essential Functions: Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary patient care team. Provides direct patient care under the direction, delegation, and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Documents patient care accurately and timely. Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition to the supervising RN. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Supports patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial or spiritual needs as appropriate. Provides patient and family education based on age, culture, condition, and learning needs. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients. Supports departmental performance improvement initiatives.
