Union: None Status: Part time Schedule: Varies Applications accepted between 3/23-4/12 A completed application, resume, unofficial transcripts, and cover letter stating areas of interest and career goals are needed for consideration The Nurse Extern Program is intended to be an educational support system. The Nurse Extern is assigned to work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse who will delegate tasks based upon the patient's needs and the Nurse Extern's individual skills and abilities. The Nurse Extern will progress to proficiency, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, through competency testing and regular performance evaluation. The Nurse Extern complies with all appropriate safety, quality and infection control standards, quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. He or she performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior and Patient-Centered Care Model. The Externship is organized and conducted as an educational program and does not require commitment for employment following the completion of the Nurse Extern Program. The Nurse Extern works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or RN designee, who will review work for conformance to standards of practice and competence in performing job duties. The Nurse Extern shall have a performance review at the completion of the ten (10) week program.
