Job Summary: The Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the quality of patient care, the monitoring of performance of the nursing staff, the development and management of the budget. Oversees and directs departmental management in the orientation, education, and development of the staff in order to establish the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Contributes to nursing and EHS support of philosophy and objectives and education efforts. Collaborates with physicians, staff, support departments and service lines to assure excellence in patient care. The Nurse Manager works directly with the Nurse Director to ensure all financial and quality metrics are achieved. Education: Required: - Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. - BS Degree; exception allowed with approval of Chief Nursing Officer. Preferred: - BSN Experience: Required: - Five years of clinical experience required. Evidence of leadership abilities required. Preferred: - N/A Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: - Current licensure privileges to practice nursing in the state of employment. - BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward. - ACLS Preferred: - N/A The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents. Department Position Summary: The Nurse Manager serves as a member of the Patient Care Services division by administering the operations of a specified department as assigned by Senior Management. Further serves as a conduit for the implementation and maintenance of guidelines and visions of Executive Management to ensure quality and customer satisfaction within assigned areas of EHS. Assumes administrative duties, as directed. Directs and coordinates the functions of assigned areas. Responsible for a continuously improving quality level of patient care service within Erlanger and to customers within the community. The role may also include direct and indirect patient care. Must possess communication skills (written and verbal), leadership abilities that promote growth and development of employees, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to interact appropriately and effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
