COMPANY BACKGROUND:

JWCH Institute is a Federally Qualified Health Center. It is the largest non-government provider of homeless health and supportive services in Los Angeles County. Department of Health Services (DHS), in the Housing for Health program, funds MLK Recuperative Care Center (RCC). MLK RCC is a 96-bed program and it temporarily offers a 33-bed COVID unit (inclusive of the 96 beds). MLK RCC provides intensive case management, behavioral healthcare and satellite medical clinic services, on-site. Additionally, MLK RCC provides supportive services to the chronically homeless, those with behavioral health diagnosis and those with chronic medical conditions.
Position Purpose: The MLK Recuperative Care Center (RCC) Housing Nurse Manager will participate as part of the management team at MLK RCC. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for clinical oversight of the recuperative care clinic and nursing functions. He or she will oversee Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses. The Nurse Manager position is responsible for conducting functional and technical training in alignment with agency and funding source policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager will receive guidance from the Program Director and clinical guidance and updates Corporate Nurse Manager (CNM) (or the designee by Deputy Chief of Operations).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed by the State of California to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR on an annual basis. (Training may be provided.)
  • At least five years of experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • At least two years of experience supervising registered nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants.
  • Experience working with patients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel between sites

Responsibilities
  • Conduct new hire orientations for nursing staff, to include skills assessments.
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive training for all nursing staff collaborating and or guidance from CNM.
  • Provide ongoing training, education and remediation for nursing and ancillary staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating all nursing credentialing functions.
  • Coordinating skills lab training and annual competency testing for Medical Assistants and licensed nurses.
  • Support and assist Program Director with nursing staff oversight and assist with clinical performance issues as identified with collaboration and or guidance from CNM.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Director and CMO to provide continuum of medical care.
  • Participates in all case conferences regarding MLK RCC clients, supporting care teams’ in treatment plans.
  • Collects patient complaints. Follows appropriate procedures in resolving any complaint.
  • Analyzes, resolves and reports major issues concerning the clinical operations of the sites to appropriate management staff.
  • Support and assist Program Director with required reporting and data collection.
  • Monitors and ensures clinical compliance with federal, state, local regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and QA teams to enhance Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Program Director and assists with the continuing improvement of systematic functions.
  • Assist with Direct Client Care and management.
  • Provide oversight of patient screening/triage, dispensary and medication ordering processes.
  • Collaborate with Program Director to ensure that safety guidelines and facility requirements are met.
  • Serves as on-site and/or on call administrator in the absences of Program Director/Asst. Program Director.
  • Participate in medical updates and training as appropriate.
  • Monitors and maintains adherence to the Agency and DHS Policies and Procedures.
  • Attends meetings as indicated.
