The Nurse Manager position is part of the executive team of the Public Health Unit and plays a key leadership role in the management and support of nursing staff within the Communicable Diseases and Immunisation teams. The role will focus on ensuring nursing practice within the unit is delivered to a high level consistent with contemporary standards.

The Nurse Manager is part of the Public Health Executive team and together provides senior leadership to foster a high-performing and accountable culture across the Public Health Unit. The role oversees nursing staff and ensures that all clinical practice is consistent with evidence-based public health standards in both Immunisation and Communicable Disease team. Through strategic leadership and collaboration, the Nurse Manager supports excellence in service delivery and workforce performance.
The Nurse Manager works collaboratively with the Public Health Director, Staff Specialists, and team leaders to support the daily operations of the Public Health Unit. This includes planning, organising, and supporting the work of nursing staff involved in public health programs.
The role contributes to the development of contemporary, evidence-based policies and procedures that ensure compliance with Ministry of Health standards across the District. The Nurse Manager leads the implementation of innovative, person-centred, and population-focused nursing practices to support disease prevention and control initiatives.
Additionally, the position provides strategic and operational leadership, ensuring effective planning and governance of public health services. It includes evaluating field and clinic operations, assisting with budget preparation, and contributing to contract negotiations related to public health programs within NSLHD.
