Overview Treating women and newborns with the care and dignity befitting them is an important aspect of this Nurse Midwife position. Provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, family-planning and well-woman gynecological care independently to adolescent and adult women based on scope of practice and established guidelines. Consults appropriately with consulting physicians. Provides collaborative care or referral to medical management as appropriate. This care is guided by practice protocols and standards established jointly by the Emanuel Hospital Midwifery Service Staff and the Midwifery Services Program Director under the direction of the Clinical VP of Women’s Services. Follows all organizational, regulatory and human resource policies and procedures. Practice includes full participation in outpatient and inpatient care. ** PRACTICES FULL SCOPE OF MIDWIFERY Education: As required by licensure. Experience: Full scope women’s healthcare and midwifery as well as interest and/or experience working with patients with subtance abuse disorders preferred. Skills: Ability to work with people in a diplomatic and tactful manner, utilizing effective leadership and group process skills. Demonstrated competency in clinical care, as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients. License and Certifications: Current applicable state license as a Registered Nurse/ Nurse Midwife/ Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NP-PP) required. National Certification as a Nurse Midwife (MW) required. Current CPR Certification. Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff.
