Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Director, Pharmacy, the Nurse Navigator is an active member of the Oncology team that delivers medical staff services and office support consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of the Oncology and Pharmacy Departments and CRHS. The Nurse Navigator fully administers, coordinates, and manages the Specialty Medications for patients receiving prescribed treatment regimens.  Basic Qualifications: * Education: Requires a current Georgia Nursing License as a Registered Nurse.  * Experience: Requires up to one year of work-related on-the-job experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. * Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: Requires that within six months of hire to become Level I Certified Oncology Nurse (ONS) and to become Level II certified within one year (or as by ONS guidelines)   Essential Job Responsibilities: * Monitor all prescriptions for oral or specialty medications for Oncology * Ensure that prescriptions be sent to Crisp Regional Retail Pharmacy * Monitor and maintain patient refills * Track prescription process through delivery to patient, including delivery scheduling and ensuring receipt * Assume role as patient advocate * Complete and submit financial assistance documents for medications * Educate patients on all aspects of medications, including direction for use, potential side effects and indications in a manner in which is easy to understand * Obtain medical and prescription benefit coverage and upload into EHR * Initiate and monitor prior authorization through approval * Serve as liaison between Pharmacy and Oncology Department * Maintain shared spreadsheet to track all oncology claims between Pharmacy and Oncology
Responsibilities
The Nurse Navigator monitors prescriptions for oncology patients and ensures proper management of specialty medications. They also serve as patient advocates and educate patients on medication use and side effects.
