The Nurse Navigator is an expert resource and support for patients and is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the nursing component of the Breast Health Program. The Nurse Navigator will work in collaboration with other health care providers including community partners and agencies to promote care based on best practice and will help develop and foster these relationships. The Nurse Navigator reports to the Manager of Surgical Pathways and acts in accordance with established SHA policies and the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) Standards of Practice. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Requires highly developed clinical assessment skills and critical thinking Minimum of 5 years of recent breast health care experience Exp. related to leadership, patient education, program development & evaluation. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Current registration with CRNS and current BCLS certification. Competencies Time management skills Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge in accounting, spreadsheet and word processing programs Ability to perceive and analyze problems and effect innovative solutions Knowledge in diverse cultures, values and traditions Expertise in Breast Cancer care through ongoing professional development Ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, families. Ability to conduct assessments/prioritize client needs/develop treatment plans Ability to utilize evidence-based practice Ability to multitask Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills Flexible in the implementation of new technology within the program and demonstrates an ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
