Description GENERAL SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will plan, direct, and evaluate patient healthcare in an ambulatory service setting. The NP examines and treats chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses. The NP also performs selected laboratory testing, offers referrals to physicians, writes prescriptions, and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The NP works well within a team dynamic, excels at patient care, is effective at communication, and assists in the overall development of high-quality patient care. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs procedures or provides care services that are within the NP’s scope of practice according to the certifying state. Examines patients and establishes diagnoses by patient history, physical examination, and other methods of assessment. Admits, manages, and discharges patients to and from healthcare facilities. Orders, collects, performs and interprets diagnostic tests. Manages health care by identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care and treatment for patients. Prescribes therapies and medical equipment. Refers patients to other healthcare practitioners, services, or facilities. Conducts patient rounds and performs on-call duties when scheduled. Manages a panel of urologic patients, including patients within the subspeciality focus. Meets clinical requirement on patient visits (in-office or telehealth), maintains an average of our expected clinical standard for the practice. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS RN and APN license and certification required by state. NP certification preferred. BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Urology experience preferred. Experience with EMR required.
