JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the physician, Nurse Practitioner incumbent performs medical diagnostic and treatment in the fields of primary care/reproductive health and performs minor surgical care for California State University Long Beach (CSULB) students.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with co-workers, staff and departmental staff. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with university students and convey medical information. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Experience working with a diverse group of individuals, providing professional service. Occasional coverage outside usual and customary SHS hours, including evenings and weekends. Provides high-quality, evidence-based care services in accordance with the principles of professional practice and ethical conduct.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides primary & reproductive health care services. Adheres to the established hours of clinic operation by being on time and remaining on duty as scheduled unless approved by the Medical Director. Special activities may involve occasional coverage outside usual SHS hours.
• Provides direct patient care for students with eating disorders. Performs intakes and assessments of students with diagnosed/undiagnosed eating disorders and/or disordered eating.
• Participates in SHS Committees, special projects, work related activities. Participates in service activities in support of Division of Student Affairs and CSU Long Beach, as assigned by the Medical Director or the Executive Director of Student Health Services.

Equivalent to an academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university-based Nurse Practitioner program and must be clinically competent in a medical specialty applicable to the position, with the ability to perform the duties of a Nurse Practitioner within that specialty.
