Responsibilities
  • Performs initial mental health assessment of clients, documenting in health record
  • Prescribes, monitors and evaluates medication in treatment
  • Order diagnostic testing for clients
  • Refers clients to psychiatry services, relaying all pertinent information from assessment
  • Develop, maintain and supervise psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and medication policies and procedures of Safe Bed program
  • Maintain accurate and timely records
  • Collaborate with consulting psychiatrist on appropriate treatment, advocating for the client, serving as primary liaison with psychiatry
  • Collaborate with primary practitioners in shared care philosophy
  • Provide education to staff as required
  • Attend OTN appointments as required for district clients
  • Comply with Nurse Practitioner practice standards as outlined by College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Represents the Canadian Mental Health Association, Thunder Bay Branch, in a professional manner and adheres to standards consistent with the values and philosophy of the Association
  • Adhering to and promoting CMHA’s Code of Ethics Policy
  • Complying with CMHA’s Health and Safety Policies
  • Other duties as assigned
