POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners for a locum assignment at a reputed hospital in Northern Ontario. This role is based in the Emergency Department (ED), managing patients with CTAS levels 3, 4, and 5. Contract: 3–6 months (Fixed Term)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in primary care, urgent care, and ability to work independently.
  • Recent work experience in an Emergency and Acute Care hospital environment OR remote/rural Northern experience.
  • Current certification in ACLS and CTAS preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • TNCC and ENPC certifications are considered assets.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN-EC (Extended Class).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in an Emergency Department.
  • Satisfactory criminal record / vulnerable sector check.
  • Proof of immunizations including a recent TB skin test (within 1 year).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and chronic condition management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide coordinated and comprehensive care.
