Under the direction of the Provincial HealthLine 811 Clinical Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to the community. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience 3 years experience as an RN in primary care, public health or acute care Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Other Education and Training Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program required Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, organizational & leadership abilities Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments.
