The Nurse Practitioner practices by blending an in-depth knowledge of advanced nursing practice with the legal authority and autonomy as outlined in legislation, regulation, CRNS Bylaws, regulatory requirements, and best practices. The Nurse Practitioner will provide care and services at the Urgent Care Centre within their full scope of practice and competencies for clients both independently and collaboratively with a physician(s) and the healthcare team. As health care professionals, they participate in self and peer review to evaluate the outcome of their services at the patient, community, and population level. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience 1 year full time experience working as a Nurse Practitioner. 3 years experience as a RN in critical care, ER, acute care or primary care. Education Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) or Post-Graduate Practitioner Certificate is required Licenses Registered Nurse Practitioner (RN(NP)) Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education and Training Basic Life Support Level C Certificate (BLS-C) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS) Competencies Communication skills Leadership skills Knowledge and Abilities Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions Knowledge in community resources and services in the clinical area Knowledge in evaluating and leading process improvement projects Ability to provide holistic care to individuals,families & the community Ability to take initiative Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary care needs.
