Alberta Health Services is currently seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about caring for infants who require specialized care within a large and diverse neonatal program. This role will allow you to apply your clinical experience as part of a large NNP team. Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) has an exciting opportunity to join the Stollery Children’s Hospital Neonatal intensive care program that operates at three sites - the University of Alberta Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta Canada. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides specialized care and management of neonates particularly those who are premature or sick patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and intermediate care nurseries. The NNP collaborates with program staff, attending physicians and specialists to acquire and utilize best practice- evidence and resources needed for individual situations and to make adjustments and optimize program delivery. The Edmonton zone NICU model of care allows for expert advanced clinical services 24 hours a day and seven days a week allowing for both continuity of patient and family centered care and for the NNP an opportunity for skill retention.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
