PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Preoperative histories Physical examinations, medication reconciliations, order, and compile necessary medical tests Post-operative follow-up care Order X-Rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures Injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care Triage patient calls Make rounds, assess patients’ well-being, document notes and orders, and dictate discharge summaries Liaison between physician and patient/family Maintain adequate exposure in the operating field; cutting sutures, clamping, ligating bleeding vessels, suturing, and lacerations Start intravenous solutions, inserting tubes, and performing pap smears Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, and medication dispensed or prescribed Answer patient telephone calls for referral to the appropriate provider(s) REQUIREMENTS: Nurse Practitioner - bachelor’s degree in nursing and successful completion of a nurse practitioner program at the master level Physician Assistant – Graduate of accredited PA program EXPERIENCE: Three or more years of experience in the specific area of treatment CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Licensed as a Physician’s Assistant to work in the state of employment or currently licensed in the State of Tennessee as a RN and ANCC certified as a nurse practitioner in a specialty area.
