Job Title:   Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) - Spine General Summary of Duties:   University Orthopedics in East Greenwich, RI is seeking a full-time dynamic, motivated NP/PA to join the group.  This group is a high-volume practice that handles spine, sports, and joint procedures.  The NP/PA will be responsible for the evaluation and nonoperative management of patients with musculoskeletal complaints and acute/chronic conditions.      Essential Job Functions:    * Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physicians. * Perform routine outpatient procedures. * Access, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic care patients. * Assist physician in examining and diagnosing skeletal and joint problems. * Order and interpret test results and recommended treatment of patients. * Administer injections as needed when indicated. * Provide post-procedure patient care. * Pre and post-procedure follow-up and patient evaluation.  * Consult for pharmaceutical or interventional treatments. * Write scripts and patient education. * Evaluate X-ray, CT scan, and MRI. * Other duties as assigned to meet practice needs.  * May need to travel to other UOI sites when needed.      Requirements:  * Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Rhode Island. * Minimum 2 years experience as a NP/PA, orthopedic preferred.  * Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner * Professional, pleasant, and enthusiastic demeanor. * Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records. * Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. * Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices.
