EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) who has graduated from an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure new nurses are properly oriented to the facility, its organization, residents, and receive necessary training within the required timeframe.
  • Assign and manage nursing staff for each shift, ensuring adequate staffing levels, including agency staff scheduling, assignments, cancellations, and monitoring overall agency scheduling.
  • Investigate and address problems and complaints in collaboration with the Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with unit nurses to share information and address concerns as directed by the DON/ADON.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering in-services and educational programs for both licensed and unlicensed staff.
  • Work with supervisory staff in other departments to resolve facility-wide issues.
  • Support unit nurses in collecting data for team meetings and ensure attendance at team meetings, annual IHP meetings, and quarterly reviews. Monitor nursing follow-through on team decisions.
  • Review nursing documentation, plans of care, and inform the DON/ADON of any concerns or areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and communicate nursing supply needs to the DON/ADON or medical records secretary.
  • Step in to assume the role of unit nurse when needed.
  • Assume on-call responsibilities as requested by the DON/ADON.
  • Perform any other duties within the scope of nursing practice as delegated by the DON/ADON.
