Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the day-to-day surgical operations at the assigned facility. Oversees nursing staff and ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures, applicable laws, and established clinical guidelines. Provides direction to physicians and staff regarding updates in protocols, forms, scheduling, and procedures as set by management. Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and insight in all decision-making processes. Oversee daily surgery center operations, including scheduling, staffing, supplies, and workflow adjustments to ensure efficiency and team collaboration. Troubleshoot perioperative issues and ensure appropriate communication among team members. Maintain accountability for daily patient-related logs (e.g., surgery log, daily checks, refrigerator temperatures, ORA, crash cart, specimen tracking). Ensure all required certifications, licensure, and training are current. Supervise staff by organizational policies and legal guidelines, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and corrective actions. Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient calls and serve as intraoperative circulator. Record and analyze patient medical histories, symptoms, and treatment plans. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Maintain compliance with all procedures, regulations, and rules for medical recordkeeping. Perform diagnostic tests and collaborate with physicians and pharmacists on patient treatment plans. Educate patients and families about care plans and procedures. Ensure proper setup and maintenance of surgical suites and the ambulatory surgery center (ASC). Supervise and assign duties to circulating technicians and other unlicensed ASC personnel. Conduct training and competency testing for circulating staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Proficiency in core RN competencies: documentation, nursing assessment, medication administration, injection safety, blood glucose monitoring, IV insertion, cardiac rhythm monitoring, latex protocols, time-outs, conscious sedation, aseptic technique, infection prevention, environmental cleaning, laser safety, and equipment operation. Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and ophthalmic surgical procedures, including the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team. Proper handling of instruments, specimens, cultures, and smears at all stages of use. Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including conflict resolution, team motivation, and collaboration. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite. Initiative and ability to lead a team in a fast-paced clinical environment. Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support are mandatory. If either certification is not current, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery center (ASC) preferred. Experience with conscious sedation is required or strongly preferred.
