About the unit Big Rapids Emergency Department is a community-based hospital that is part of the Corewell Healthcare System. The Big Rapids ED is a certified Primary Stroke Center and Level IV Trauma Center. There are 20 places to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary team members collaborate closely to provide relationship-based care for our patients and their loved ones. Scope of work Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data. Responsibilities

Nurse Technicians function as team members supporting Registered Nurses by delivering quality patient care, which includes taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, assisting with bathing and ambulation, and performing wound care and catheterization. They are also responsible for maintaining a clean patient environment and communicating equipment malfunctions.
