Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health. Responsibilities The Nurse Trainee-Pathways is utilizing skills learned through a recognized Career Pathways Academic Program. Program will combine work-based, on-the-job learning with relevant technical education in the classroom to start on a career path that continues after high school graduation. Under the direction of the Career Pathways Academic Program, will be responsible for a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for patients in accordance with those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience and has demonstrated competency. Trainee will only be expected to perform provisions of care for which they have received training and instruction as directed by the Career Pathways Academic Program. This position requires application of clinical, cooperative, and independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to complete provision of care. Qualifications Candidates must apply to the RN Career Pathways position and meet eligibility requirements: Be eligible to work as a Patient Care Technician or CMA. Position available without CNA certification. Non-clinical must complete a job shadow Provide a current leader recommendation. Must be in good standing according to regional corrective action policy within 6 months from application date and through completion of the program. (Internal team members only) Meet the admissions and educational requirements of Purdue Global University. Be currently working on or willing to transition to a position in an eligible Med/Surg, and ER during and after program completion. Travel 2-3 days a week for travel to Anamosa. *After completing the program, participants must remain at UnityPoint Health – Waterloo Allen Hospital or UnityPoint Marshalltown for 2 years upon completion of PG ASN Program. Education: Enrolled in a formal nursing program and remains in good standing per the Pathways Academic Program. Licenses/Certifications: Must obtain Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa upon completion of the program.
