QUALIFICATIONS - MANDATORY

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification in Oncology Nursing or Leadership and Management (or equivalent) or commitment to complete – graduate certificate or higher
  • A minimum of 5 years clinical experience in chosen specialty
  • Recent experience managing a department (including acting or deputising into the Manager role)
  • Experience in the delivery of investigational products and management of patients participating in clinical trials

QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRABLE

  • More than 5 years clinical experience in chosen specialty
  • Experience in the private healthcare system
Responsibilities

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to complex department services to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the NBH. The position will:

  • provide operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management of the service and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based. In addition the position will be accountable and responsible for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels.
  • participate in the marketing initiatives of NBH to promote growth, help identify clinical areas for expansion and represent the hospital at external clinical forums (as applicable).
  • undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team.
  • work as part of the health care team, adhere to Healthscope and NBH policies and procedures and key performance indicators, participate in working parties or committees (as required) demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement through National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS), Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and achievement of NBH accreditation.
  • will maintain a personal and professional development portfolio with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
