Responsibilities

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) provides clinical leadership in Alpine Health’s acute and aged care services. As a leader of the team, the NUM is integral to the coordination of clinical care and operational management of the unit, including staffing, change management and safer care outcomes.

The NUM maintains the following primary responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursing unit, ensuring efficient patient flow, resource allocation, and adherence to clinical protocols and standards.
  • Foster a positive work environment that values diversity, inclusivity, and professional development.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff, to optimise patient care delivery and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to support the achievement of organisational goals and objectives.
  • Act as a role model and mentor for staff, promoting professional growth, autonomy, and accountability.
