Responsible to: Registered Person, Nursery Manager, Deputy/Senior Nursery Nurse
Main Objectives:
To work as a member of a caring team who are responsible for providing expert care, fun and learning in a safe stimulating environment for 0-8 year olds. To ensure that all individual children are respected and receive equal opportunities, to play and learn appropriately to their development.

Tasks and Duties:

  • To assist with, plan, prepare, contribute and carry out all planning based on Birth to Three Matters and the new curriculum Wales . To implement all relevant themes, topics and projects within the relevant timescales.
  • To carry out observations on the children and observation based planning for the children, to ensure all children receive the opportunity to progress at their own level of development.
  • To ensure all daily routines are adhered to and records kept up to date-sleep charts, daily intake charts, cleaning charts etc.
  • To settle in new children liasing with parents and offering advice and support where necessary.
  • To supervise and help children at mealtime, encouraging a relaxed social atmosphere and environment.
  • To supervise staff, work within a team and maintain good communication with other team members, visitors, children and parents.
  • To display children’s work for all parent and children to see according to themes and other relevant topics.
  • To attend staff meetings, assist with fund raising and any other events necessary.
  • To follow instructions as well as working on your own initiate to maintain a consistent high standard caring environment.
  • To be aware of confidences and to be professional at all times while at work and while in the uniform.
  • To supervise students and volunteers
  • To maintain the nursery environment, including cleaning and other such tasks as necessary to the efficient running of the nursery.
  • To have a working knowledge of CIW requirements, regulations and the national standards.
  • To know, follow and ensure all policies and procedures are adhere to.
  • To maintain appropriate First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates.
  • To prepare and serve food and drinks to the children ensuring you have food hygiene training and adhere to standards of food hygiene safety.
  • To promote equal opportunities at all time through activities, events, festivals, actions, play, eating environments etc.
  • To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with all health and safety rules.
  • To carry out any other duties as required and requested by the Registered Person, Manager or Deputy/Senior Nursery Nurse.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £6.28 per hour
