Description

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES / OBJECTIVES:

  1. Ensure that children receive a varied and nutritional diet by providing a high standard of preparation, cooking and presentation in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage nutrition guidance.
  2. Prepare menus in accordance with procedures of the nursery and help plan the menu with the nursery manager to ensure that children’s nutritional needs and individual requirements are met taking into account food allergies/intolerances and religious requirements.
  3. Be aware, through the process of training and development, of all aspects of catering, particularly as it relates to the needs of young children.
  4. Apply all aspects of provisions management, including for example, ordering, stock control, stock rotation, checking deliveries for weight and quantity, and storage, in accordance with established practice.
  5. Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of both equipment and environment in the kitchen and associated preparation and storage areas, ensuring that all equipment is hygienically clean prior to and following use. Follow a strict cleaning routine, including deep cleaning once a month (including defrosting the freezer and fully cleaning the fridge).
  6. Keep accurate records of fridge/freezer and cooked food temperatures, using HACCP/Safer Catering, Better Business Pack
  7. Abide by the guidelines and regulations issued from time to time, as they particularly refer to Food Handling, Hygiene and Health & Safety at Work.
  8. Participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity in accordance with nursery policies.
  9. Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons around you and comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
  10. As a term of your employment you may be required to undertake such other duties and/or times of work as may reasonably be required of you, commensurate with your grade or general level of responsibility within the organisation, at your initial place of work or based at any other establishment.
