JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a part time Nursery Cook.
This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen on 3 set days every week, delivering high-quality meals to our babies and children.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for providing children’s heathy meals and a strong understanding of food safety practices, including the importance of managing food allergies and dietary requirements.
It is essential that the candidate has the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or cook a variety of nursery meals according to established methods and standards.
  • Establish meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, risk assessments and nursery policies and procedure.
  • Collaborate with our other nursery cook and housekeeper to ensure a consistency of service.
  • Handle food items with care, ensuring proper techniques are used for cooking and serving.
  • Participate in menu planning and contribute innovative ideas for new dishes.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and assist our housekeeper in stock management and weekly orders.
