JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nursery Manager to lead the setup and management of our new Montessori nursery setting. This exciting opportunity will involve establishing the nursery from the ground up, shaping its vision, and ensuring it becomes a trusted and valued part of the community. The successful candidate will have a proven background in early childhood education and childcare, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage all aspects of opening and running a high-quality early years setting.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in early childhood education or childcare, with a Level 3 qualification (or higher) in childcare or early years education.
  • Proven experience in setting up or managing a nursery or early years setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a new team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with parents, staff, and external stakeholders confidently.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in overseeing both the setup and ongoing operations of the nursery.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance requirements in childcare settings.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and visionary approach to establishing a successful new nursery.
  • Financial and operational management experience in a childcare or educational environment is highly desirable.
  • Montessori qualification and or experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the setup of the nursery, including registration with relevant authorities, staff recruitment, and procurement of resources.
  • Develop the nursery’s vision, ethos, and policies to reflect a commitment to excellence in early years education and care.
  • Take overall responsibility for the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Build and inspire a team of staff, managing recruitment, training, and ongoing professional development to create a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Develop and implement engaging educational programmes that foster children’s learning and development.
  • Act as the primary contact for parents and guardians, building strong relationships and ensuring a seamless and supportive transition for children into the nursery.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and stimulating, adhering to all health and safety and safeguarding protocols.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and supplies effectively to ensure financial stability and smooth operations.
  • Actively promote the nursery within the local community to establish its reputation and attract families.
