Role Description The Nursery Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Reading, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and efficient operation of the nursery. This role involves overseeing staff, managing schedules, and ensuring consistent, high-quality care and education for children. The Nursery Manager will implement and monitor safeguarding procedures, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and uphold health and safety standards. Daily tasks include supervising curriculum delivery, supporting staff development, handling parent communications, managing admissions, and overseeing administrative duties such as record-keeping and reporting. The role also includes monitoring nursery performance, identifying areas for improvement, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment for children, families, and team members.

Qualifications

• Strong nursery and nursery management skills, with experience overseeing early years settings and leading diverse teams.
• Proficiency in safeguarding and safeguarding children practices, with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build constructive relationships with children, families, staff, and external partners.
• Recognized early years childcare qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years Education/Childcare) or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage administrative tasks, nursery budgets, and compliance with regulatory and inspection standards.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in leading staff training, mentoring, and performance management within a childcare or education environment is beneficial.
• Current paediatric first aid certification and enhanced background checks (or willingness to obtain) are an advantage.
