Are you an experienced early years practitioner ready to take the lead? We’re looking for a confident, organised, and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our passionate team at Petworth Nursery. About the Role: As Room Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading the daily running of your room, inspiring your team, and ensuring that every child receives the highest quality care and education. You’ll lead planning, guide practice, and make sure routines, learning, and wellbeing are all flowing smoothly.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Room Management
* Take the lead in the room’s daily routines, creating a calm and purposeful environment
* Be a positive role model, setting the tone for best practice and teamwork
* Delegate tasks clearly and ensure staff feel supported and confident
* Foster a space where children feel secure, engaged, and valued
Planning, Observations & Assessments
*Oversee high-quality, child-led planning that reflects individual needs and interests
*Ensure observations and assessments are accurate, up-to-date, and EYFS-aligned
*Support the team in planning next steps for each child and tracking their progress
Environment & Resources
* Keep the room safe, clean, and stimulating—ready for learning and fun every day
* Rotate and refresh resources regularly to promote creativity and curiosity
* Conduct daily risk assessments and report any safety or maintenance concerns
* Create displays that showcase meaningful learning and celebrate achievements
Staff Support & Development
*Offer daily guidance and constructive feedback to your team
* Support with staff inductions, supervisions and role model professional behaviours
* Encourage reflection and new ideas to raise the quality of provision
* Work closely with the Deputy/Manager on performance and training support
Parent Partnerships & Communication
* Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers
* Lead key worker relationships and ensure communication is warm, clear, and accurate
* Represent the nursery’s values in all family interactions and meetings
Safeguarding & Compliance
* Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and documented
* Maintain records including accidents, medications, and care plans
* Promote and uphold policies around behaviour, health & safety, and hygiene
Reflective Practice & Room Development
* Take part in team meetings, training, and supervisions with a proactive mindset
* Regularly evaluate routines and provision to drive continuous improvement
* Set and work toward development goals for your room
